The Lac du Bonnet Foundation is pleased to announce that $17,775 was raised during this year’s Day of Giving Challenge, which took place on November 16, 2019. Lac du Bonnet Senior School YIP Committee makes a donation at the LDB Foundation Booth at the Christmas Craft Sale on November 16.
This year the LdB Foundation was excited to be one of 150 Foundations Canada-wide chosen to partner with the RBC Future Launch Community Challenge to administer a grant of up to $15,000 to youth-lead projects that responded to an urgent need in our community.
We are pleased to announce that two local projects were chosen to receive this grant. The Lac du Bonnet Youth Centre received $5750 for their Building Computers project and a group from Lac du Bonnet Senior School received $9250 for their Medicine Wheel Garden project. A granting ceremony took place at the St. John’s Anglican Church Hall on Thursday November 28.
The Lac du Bonnet Foundation was pleased to award a $5000 grant to the Lac du Bonnet Arena on November 5 towards the replacement of the dressing room and skate area matting during the Fall Granting process. The LDBSS YIP Committee provided the Arena with an additional $3500 grant to help fund this project.
On October 3, 2019, the Lac du Bonnet Foundation hosted a Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) Workshop at the Lac du Bonnet Senior School. The workshop was facilitated by Brigette DePape (Youth Coordinator, Winnipeg Foundation) and Courtney Feldman (Engagement Specialist, Endow Manitoba) with the goal of helping students create a greater sense of purpose, understanding, focus, and possibilities of how YIP could work more effectively in our schools and communities. The workshop was attended by 25 people including representatives from the Lac du Bonnet, Pinawa, and Brokenhead Community Foundations and the Lac du Bonnet and Pinawa Senior School YIP Committees.
