Lac du Bonnet & District Charitable Foundations – Active Funds

The Lac du Bonnet Foundation, like most community foundations in Manitoba, uses the Winnipeg Foundation to manage our investments. Over the years, a number of different pools of monies which are known as “Funds” have been established by the Lac du Bonnet Foundation.

Donors can direct which Fund they wish to support with their donation.

The Lac du Bonnet Foundation currently has eleven active Funds which are listed and described below.

Administration Fund

The earnings from the Administration Fund help to cover some of the annual operating expenses incurred by the Foundation.

Managed Fund

The Managed Fund is a general and versatile fund, the earnings from which support a wide range of projects and community needs in the area.

Health and Senior Services Fund

This fund supports needs in the community for general health, services, housing or a personal care home for seniors.

Lac du Bonnet Wildlife Fund

The Lac du Bonnet Wildlife Association Fund was one of the first funds established with the Foundation. The earnings from this fund support wildlife management, habitat and conservation projects.

Winnipeg River Education Bursary Fund

The Winnipeg River Educational Bursary Fund was established in 2015 by Foundation Board Member Emeritus, Gus Wruck. This fund assists needy students pursuing degrees in science, agriculture, veterinary medicine, or a health care profession.

Chuck Reynolds Memorial Education Fund

The Chuck Reynold Education Fund was established by the Reynolds family in memory of Chuck Reynolds, a former teacher, Sunrise School Division Board Member and active community member. The fund supports annual awards to selected graduating students who are pursuing advanced education at qualified institutions.

Brittany Bung Memorial Fund

The Brittany Bung Fund was established by the Foundation in memory of Brittany Bung, a young member of the community who tragically passed away in 2017. This fund supports community youth programs addressing issues in the community involving youth.

Richmond Family Fund

The Richmond Family Fund was established by the Richmond family in 2017 to support various needs in the community.

The Heritage Fund

The Heritage Fund was established jointly by the Lac du Bonnet & District Historical Society, the Lac du Bonnet & District Charitable Foundation and The Winnipeg Foundation to support the Lac du Bonnet Heritage Museum.

Youth in Philanthropy Fund

The Youth in Philanthropy Fund was jointly established in 2017 by the Thomas Sill Foundation and the LDB Foundation.  The fund was developed to educate and involve Lac du Bonnet Senior School students in community needs and the impact of philanthropy. This fund supports needs in the community as recommended by the YIP committee and approved by the Board of Directors of the Foundation.

Bob and Bette Rutherford Family Fund

The Bob & Bette Rutherford Family Fund was established by the Foundation in 2020 in memory of Bob and Bette Rutherford. Bob and Bette were long time residents of the area. Bob had the vision of establishing a community foundation in the area but he did not live long enough to see it become a reality.
